About Carpeting Durango

Why Choose Carpeting Durango?

Carpet is Quiet: Compared to hardwood flooring or tile, carpet is much quieter when people walk on it. Not only that, but having carpet in a room, has a “sound dampening” effect, where a house with nothing but hardwood flooring needs a lot of rugs to offset the “echo” effect caused by too many hard surfaces.

Carpet is Affordable: Both the carpet and its installation are very affordable, especially when compared to hard wood flooring or tile flooring. Plus, carpet can be installed over just about any surface.

Carpet is Warm Under Your Feet: If you’ve ever stepped out bed onto a cold hard wood floor in the dead of winter in Durango Colorado, you know what we are talking about. The insulating property of carpeting makes it great for colder climates, and much warmer for your feet.

Carpet is Clean and Easy to Maintain: Most synthetic carpets are treated to avoid static, stains and soiling, making them easy to clean and maintain.

What Materials Are Used to Make Carpeting Durango?

There are four basic types of carpet materials, each with its own unique properties:

Nylon

Nylon is generally considered the most durable and stain resistant material (when treated with stain protection). If you have kids, or pets, or both, nylon is a great material. It is durable, and great for high traffic areas of the home.

Polyester

Polyester looks and feels great. It often comes in lots of different colors. It is excellent for homes with an “average” amount of foot traffic.

Olefin

Olefin is often associated with loop pile construction or for dense cut piles. It isn’t as good on the durability scale as polyester or nylon, but it offers good stain resistance and handles moisture well.

Wool

If you are looking for a natural fiber, Wool will be what you are looking for. Although it is not particularly stain resistant, it will look good for a long time and feel good underfoot.

How Carpet is Made

Most residential carpets are tufted carpet. A tufting machine

The price of the carpet depends mostly on the twist of the fibers and the density of the tufts, much the way other fabrics are impacted by “thread count.” The more dense the tufts, the higher the quality of the carpet, and the more it costs.

Twist

Twist refers to how tightly the fiber in the tufts has been twisted. The tighter the twist, the stronger the carpet. This is especially true of cut pile carpet. Frieze carpet has the highest twist (7-9 twists per inch), where most cut pile carpet has three to six twists per inch.

Density

Density of the tufts refers to how “tight” the fibers are “packed” together in the carpet. The more fibers per square inch, the stronger the carpet will be, and the longer it will last.

Stain-Resistant Carpet Durango

Stain resistance matters. This is especially true if you have kids, pets, or entertain a lot. It is important for your carpet to last a long time, but it also has to look good. And stain resistance isn’t just for the kitchen or the living room – it is for high traffic areas as well. Most people don’t think soil stains when they think of stain resistance – they think about spilling something on the carpet, but over time, soil can ruin your carpet. Stain resistance helps keep ALL types of stains from diminishing the look of your

Carpet Textures

Carpet Textures

When you talk about Carpet texture, you are talking about how the fibers are attached to the carpet backing. The three primary types of textures are:

Cut Pile Carpeting

Cut pile carpet is made by cutting the yarn at the ends. It is generally soft and comfortable under your feet. There are five basic styles of cut pile carpet: Velvet, Saxony, Frieze, Shag, and Cable. You can check out samples of each of them at our showroom in Durango.

Loop Carpeting

Loop carpet is “looped” on the ends rather than cut (like cut pile carpeting). This style is ideal for heavy traffic areas like hallways or offices.

Cut-Loop Carpeting

If you are looking at a carpet with multiple dimensions to the pattern, you are probably looking at cut-loop carpeting. The variance in the texture is created by cutting the loops at different heights.

Factors in Choosing Carpeting Durango

When you are thinking about choosing carpeting Durango, there are a lot of things to consider. Too many to name here in fact. But here are some of the things you should take into consideration before choosing what type of carpet you want to install:

  • Moisture in the room

  • Surface – are your new carpet going on top of an old floor or on concrete?

  • Traffic – how much traffic are you expecting and what type?

  • Stain Resistance – do you have kids and pets?

  • Design – just like paint on your walls, the color and texture of your floors impact the look of your home a lot.

These are just some of the factors to consider when choosing carpeting Durango. We recommend you talk to one of our specialists here at Quality Home Interiors and let them help you choose the perfect hardwood flooring for your home or office.

About Carpeting - Carpet Flooring Durango Colorado

High quality carpeting is essential for any home or office space. Not only does it add warmth and comfort, but it also helps to protect the flooring underneath from wear and tear. The right carpeting can also make a huge difference in how your space looks and feels. When choosing the perfect carpet for your home or office, there are several factors you should consider.

First, you should decide on the type of carpet that best suits your lifestyle and needs. There are soft carpets that are great for bedrooms and dens, while thicker carpets are better suited for a living room or office. You’ll also want to think about the style of the carpet: looped, textured, plush, etc. Additionally, consider where the carpet will be installed; some materials may not be suitable for high-traffic areas or damp environments.

Color is also an important factor when selecting a new carpet; too light of a color can easily fade over time due to sunlight exposure or heavy foot traffic, while dark colors may show more dirt over time. It’s best to select a color that works with your existing decor and furniture as well as one that won’t show dirt easily.

Finally, consider the lifespan of the carpet you’re selecting; higher-quality carpets tend to last longer than their cheaper counterparts due to their denser fibers and construction techniques used during manufacturing. Investing in higher quality items means that they will last longer in order to save you money in the long run!

In summary, investing in high quality carpets can have many benefits to both homes and offices alike such as providing warmth, comfortability, protection against wear and tear as well as adding aesthetic appeal to any space. When choosing a new carpet you should consider factors such as type of fiber used (looped/textured), color selection (light/dark), installation location (high traffic/damp environment) as well as overall lifespan which will determine if investing in higher quality items is worth it in order for it to last longer!
